January 3rd, 2012Fladbury Festival 5 miles
January 2nd, 2012Paul Mason reports
Multi-surface trail race in deepest Worcestershire with mud, slippery grass, riverbanks, low bridges, stiles, farm tracks, pavement, no hills and mud, but tea and cakes were included at the finish. To make things even better there were vast amounts of heated-indoor toilets, changing facilities, showers and toilet roll all in a tomato grower’s greenhouse. The Thames Valley events will be a bit of a shock. Not sure about the distance as apparently Paul did the last mile in over 10 minutes.

Cliveden Cross Country - January 2nd 2012
January 2nd, 2012A great turn out for one of the tougher races on our calendar. The recent rain had softened the course and made things a little slippy, while the bright sunshine was a welcome relief from said rain.
Updated 2115 hours to add missing runners!

Parkrun - January 1st 2012
January 1st, 2012A unique opportunity today to run 3 parkruns in one day - Bushy at 9am, Nonsuch at 10am, and Riddlesdown at 11am. About 20 people did the triple, which necessitated some rather spritely driving in order to make the next event! From the comments afterwards, the coffers of Her Majesties’ Government may well be bolstered by a few speeding tickets!
First up was Bushy where Jon paced Mel (and Georgie!) to a new pb, while y.t. got “chicked” but had a solid first run.

| 288 | Melissa ELLIOTT | 00:28:36 | VW35-39 | 52.27% | F | 47 |
Next up at 10am was Nonsuch Park, a scant 10 miles away - but as everyone observed afterwards, the various SatNav systems in use were thoroughly outplayed by the people who cycled between Bushy Park and Nonsuch. Yes, cycled. And one of those people then won at Nonsuch!

Finally, and with much limping and creaking of joints was the mudbath of Riddlesdown Park. Almost everyone doing the triple was late… but somehow the cyclists beat us again. Hmmm. Human Brain 1, SatNav nil.
The time from Riddlesdown is a bit deceptive, as many people think that the course was about 100m short.

Gut Buster 10m - Dec 31st 2011
January 1st, 2012The inaugural running of this 10m on-and-very-off-road event went like clockwork… except the man who was well in the lead went off course at about 7m and found himself facing a “400m to go sign” when he’d only run 8.8 miles! Chris Bradfield ran steadily through the field to pick up an unexpected win after the unfortunate leader had to admit defeat.

Wheaton Aston Roman Xk - 27th December 2011
December 30th, 2011A too-fast first half plus a headwind that appeared from nowhere in the last 3 miles meant a slightly slower than target finish time, but still a decent ren for David Priddy, finishing 65th in 40:06.
