Wimbledon Common 5k timetrial – 28 Mar 2009

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Paul Mason reports:

Don’t know if anyone has ventured to Wimbledon for this free time trial, I’m working over there and had to go in this morning so sneaked away and had a run.

The route is gravel paths through the trees with a couple of slippery bits but the two laps go by quickly, totally flat with a few tree roots to step over.

A child who finished tenth in the national schools cross country champs last week won this mornings race.

Any frustrated parents out there note that there were quite a lot of parents and children running. So no excuses about the kids stopping you getting out.

This was a PB yesterday for me. Also this time means that my son is no longer faster than me!

QUIZ NIGHT TONIGHT

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Just a reminder that tonight (Wednesday 25 March) is quiz night at the cricket club, above where we meet. The bar will open at around 7 pm and the quiz will start at 7.30. Try not to be (too) late. With competition from The Cricket Club’s own team and the Burnham Joggers we have pride at stake – the more Dashers there, the more likely the Dashers will win.

There are still tickets available at £5 per person or £25 for a complete team of 5 so please feel free to just turn up. We will allocate individuals to teams prior to the start. There are prizes for the winners and runners up along with a best team name prize and a lucky ticket draw.

Guaranteed no fartlek, no hills and no long run – enjoy a social night at the club for a change and help to support Sue Ryder Care and Aspire.

All welcome!

Silverstone Half marathon – 15 March 2009

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Bella Shah reports:

It was a well organised event and a run up to the marathon. It was easy to get to and lots of parking. The race was fairly flat, around the racing track, and the weather was great- a little too warm at times! There were around 6,800 runners. This is my second time doing a half marathon, the first was Windsor last year. I did Windsor in 2hrs 23 mins so was pleased with my 2hrs 14 mins in this race.

Woking Aquathlon – 8 March 2009

Friday, March 13th, 2009

This series carries on throughout the summer and is a good introduction to multi-discipline events if anyone fancies giving it a go. It makes a change to have a blast round for 25 minutes and be home well before mid-day rather than trudging around the Great Park.

Last Sunday all the action took place in the good weather before the storm. Philip won the Tristar 3 boys, Paul and Barbara were just happy to finish.
