Training tonight (Tuesday 3 February)

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

The club will be open tonight when it is intended to bring forward next week’s hill session to this week instead of the advertised 400 team relays (Alexandra Gardens unsafe as paths still covered with snow).

We will be doing the session in Peascod Street which is clear from snow and ice.

Care will need to be taken getting to the start as there is still some snow and ice on the road to the clubhouse and the paths leading to Peascod Street.

Children Today provide grants for vital, life-changing equipment for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 years.  We believe that the provision of specialist equipment for young people with disabilities has a direct and immediate impact on their quality of life and independence and is vital in helping them to overcome obstacles to live a life of greater freedom.

Children Today have places in the BUPA 10k Run, there is a registration fee of £50 plus a minimum sponsorship of £500 but plenty of time to raise the money as the event isn’t until 25 May. The events team at Children Today are always at hand to support our participants. If you’re interested, please email Ceri (ceri at children-today.org.uk).

[I did the inaugural race last year, lovely crowd support and good views - runners pass many of London’s famous sights, including Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Cleopatra’s Needle, Tate Gallery, Millennium Bridge, The Monument, Lloyds of London, Leadenhall Market, Bank of England, Mansion House, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Horseguards, Nelson’s Column and Admiralty Arch. Buckingham Palace acts as the backdrop to the start and finish. Click here for race details.]
